Un panegyris (grec ancien : \u03c0\u03b1\u03bd\u03ae\u03b3\u03c5\u03c1\u03b9\u03c2, \u00ab rassemblement \u00bb), est une assembl\u00e9e g\u00e9n\u00e9rale, nationale ou religieuse de la Gr\u00e8ce antique qui \u00e9tait d\u00e9di\u00e9e au culte d\u2019un dieu particulier. De nos jours, il est \u00e9galement associ\u00e9 aux jours saints et aux f\u00eates saintes. Chaque semaine, plusieurs festivals ont lieu autour de l\u2019\u00eele, certains plus grands que d\u2019autres.<\/p><p>Chaque village c\u00e9l\u00e8bre le Saint dont l\u2019\u00e9glise locale porte le nom. Cet \u00e9v\u00e9nement c\u00e9l\u00e8bre le miracle de Saint Spyridon, que les habitants croient sauv\u00e9s de l\u2019\u00eele de l\u2019invasion turque, le 11 Ao\u00fbt 1716. Ce miracle est c\u00e9l\u00e9br\u00e9 avec une reconstitution d\u2019une bataille nautique. Une s\u00e9rie de bateaux d\u00e9fil\u00e9 au baie de Palaiokastritsa, tandis que des bandes jouent de la musique traditionnelle et danseurs pr\u00e9sentent des danses grecques. Les processions commencent vers 9h \u00e0 Corfou, et la plupart des fanfares de l\u2019\u00eele prennent part \u00e0 ce qui est garanti d\u2019\u00eatre un beau spectacle chaque ann\u00e9e.<\/p><p>Un cas de vermeil contenant le corps de saint Spyridon est affich\u00e9 dans les moyens de culte public pendant 3 jours et nuits. Chaque \u00e9glise sur l\u2019\u00eele d\u00e9di\u00e9e \u00e0 la Vierge Marie organise un festival et la musique grecque peut \u00eatre entendu en provenance de partout!
